Wind-sensor type definitions used in the tables
The type column separates the physical sensing principle from the application. It is intentionally conservative and now avoids supplier-dependent integrator rows in the main directory.

| Cup 1D | A speed-only cup anemometer. Direction is measured by a separate wind vane, or not measured at all. |
| Cup 2D | A combined wind-speed and wind-direction package built around a cup rotor and a wind vane. The rotor and vane may share one housing, masthead, product kit, or station package. |
| High-performance cup 1D / 2D | A cup instrument intended for meteorology or wind-energy work, usually with low starting threshold, low distance constant, calibration data, and better off-axis behavior. “1D” still means speed-only; “2D” means combined speed and direction. |
| Mid-grade / prosumer cup 2D | A weather-station or project-monitoring cup-and-vane sensor suitable for alarms, education, research, small PV, agriculture, or marine use, but not assumed to be regulatory- or wind-energy-reference grade without calibration and validation. |
| Low-end / consumer | A hobby, yacht, or budget package useful for local awareness and alarms. It should not be treated as a compliance instrument unless the selected model, installation, calibration, and data processing are validated for that requirement. |
| Propeller 1D / 2D | A propeller or aerovane sensor. “1D” is speed-only; “2D” is a propeller-plus-vane or aerovane assembly reporting horizontal speed and direction. |
